House. Probably C16, or early C17 C19 alteration including refenestration. Rendered and whitewashed upon
a rubble core; straw-thatch roof which is half-hipped to each end, brick shaft to
stack at the rear.
Plan and development: single room depth, 3-unit and through-passage plan, hall to
centre with lateral rear fireplace, heated inner room to the extreme right,
fireplace of which is now blocked, lower room to left which has been incorporated
into the through-passage; the rear door opening of this passage has been blocked
and a C19 staircase inserted at its rear. In the C19 the doorway to the inner room
from the hall was blocked, the opening of the original doorway with semi-circular
head still remaining, and a new opening made.
Exterior: 2 storeys, 4 windows on the first floor, small 2-light casements, left 3
with small panes. 2 door openings, C20 doors, to left ribbed, to right half-glazed,
non-conforming glazed conservatory.
Interior: hall with fireplace with a high wooden bressumer with run-out stops,
rumble jambs, axial ceiling beam with scroll stops, wooden window seat to front
window. Lower room to left unheated and featureless. Inner room to right, has
kitchen, fireplace blocked, featureless. On first floor the straight principals of
the 4-bay roof may be seen, lapped and pegged collars.
