House. Early to mid C17, enlarged probably in the late C19, and altered and enlarged
in the late C20. Rendered cob with gable-ended scantle-slate roof. Rendered C20
addition.
Plan and development: C17 two-room central-entrance plan with end stacks and central
staircase rising from entrance lobby. Probably C19 one-room plan addition to left,
probably formerly an outbuilding but converted to domestic use in the late C20. Late
C20 addition at rear too, replacing a probably C19 former outshut. Gabled front
porch, probably a C19 or C20 addition. Two storeys.
Exterior: Asymmetrically fenestrated; C19 and C20 wooden casements, 2-light to first
floor and 3-light to ground floor. Doorway between first and second windows from
right with late C20 door and gabled porch with segmental-arched opening.
Interior: Right-hand ground-floor room has C17 chamfered cross beam and ovolo-
moulded half beams, all with ogee stops. Fireplace with old stone jambs, and C20
wooden lintel and cloam oven. Two arched recesses in wall to right of fireplace.
Cupboard in rear wall with 4-panelled door and internal shelves with hooks. Left-
hand ground-floor room has C17 chamfered cross beam, chamfered half beam to left, and
reused cross beam to right. Four-bay roof to C17 range with the feet of 3 straight-
principal rafters visible in first-floor rooms, possibly C17 trusses. Single truss
over left-hand addition. Roofspace not inspected.
