11/1 The Holme Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse, late C18, possibly 2 builds with the right bay a rebuilding
of earlier downhouse. Roughly herringbone-tooled sandstone; pantiled
roof with stone ridge, copings, kneelers and stacks. Hearth-passage
plan. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Half glazed door in right bay, in through-
passage position; and another between 2 left bays. 2-light casements
with glazing bars and stone cills, those on ground floor wider.
Stepped and cornice-banded stacks in main hearth position and at left
end. Long rear catslide. Pent, boarded rear extension is not of
special interest.
Interior shows beamed ceilings, a cast-iron fireplace and a dairy
with stone slab shelves.
