- Cottages

Pair of cottages, originally one house. C17, extended probably in C18, altered in
C19. Rendered cob walls with thatched roof gabled to right and hipped to left. 2
rendered rubble lateral stacks at rear, the left-hand one projects slightly. Brick
shaft at right hand gable end.
Originally probably 3 room and through-passage plan considerably altered. Lower
room (to left) and hall heated by rear lateral stacks. Gable end fireplace inserted
into inner room in C19. Extended slightly at lower end probably in C18. Divided
into 2 cottages in C19 at upper end of hall. Circa early C20 outshuts added at rear
of hall and lower end.
2 storeys. Asymmetrical window front with No. 1 to right. On first floor are
early C19 16-pane sashes except for central window which is 2-light C20 casement.
On ground floor is C19 2-light casement with small panes at left end. The other
windows are 2-light C20 casements apart from one to left of centre which is single
light. To its left is circa late C19 panelled door to No. 2 with side-lights. To
right of centre is narrow C20 part-glazed door to No. 1. The left-hand end of the
house is recessed extension.
Interior: No original features visible, some may be concealed. Roof space not
inspected, there may be an early roof structure.
