17/1 Bridge in grounds of Chapter House,
about 30 metres north of the house

G.V. II

Bridge over former moat. Late C17. Brick, with weathered brick coping over parapet.
Single semicircular arch with keystone, raised voussoirs, and splayed abutments. The
bridge once gave access to the Thames quay where barges carrying coal and brick cargoes
were unloaded and loaded.
