The Dower House

II

House. Late C18, altered and extended late C20. Painted brick,
tile hipped roofs behind parapet. Gothic style. Nearly square
plan with extensions on left and rear in similar style.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. 3 chimneys with clay pots. C18 leaded
casements with pointed-arched heads; C20 casements with
glazing bars and pointed arched heads.
Entrance (south-west) front: 5 bays. On first floor, centre
section has three 2-light casement windows with ogee
hoodmoulds over.
On ground floor, 6-light canted bays with flat roof on either
side of central half-glazed entrance door under ogee
metal-roofed porch supported on columns with leaf capitals and
moulded bases, and with corresponding pilasters.
One bay section on left with 2-light casement on first floor
and 6-light canted bay on ground floor. One bay right hand
section set back with embattled parapet.
3-light leaded window on first floor with pointed arch centre
light; plank door on ground floor with fanlight with
interlaced glazing and pointed head. Small recessed panel
between door and first floor window. Original leaded windows
with pointed heads at side and rear.
