COLDRIDGE
Barn approximately 2 metres west of Frogbury Farmhouse

GV
II
Fragment of barn. C18, reduced in size in C20. Partly plastered cob, partly exposed rubble, some C20 blockwork clad with corrugated iron; corrugated iron roof (formerly thatch).

Barn faces east and has opposing doors to threshing floor at left (south) end. It probably originally extended further left with central doors. At left end of front are large double doors flanked by short projecting midstrey walls. The barn floor is higher on the front than the ground level and is gained by an external flight of stone steps. Above the doors a pair of owl holes once probably carried the supports for a hood. Right end wall rebuilt in C20. Three-bay roof of C18 A-frame trusses with pegged lap-jointed collars.

Despite the incomplete state of the barn it is a noticeable landscape feature in a broad valley and forms a group with nearby Frogbury Farmhouse (q.v.).
