6/16 The Vicarage

Vicarage. Early C19, porch enclosed late C19. Roughcast over random rubble, slate roof,
boxed eaves, roughcast stacks gable ends and at gable end of service wing. L-plan. South
front: 2 storeys, 2 bays, cornice and full-height pilaster quoin on right side of facade,
nothing to left, continuous plinth. Full-height canted bay left with 12-pane sash
windows, 12-pane sash window right, all with horns, similar arrangement ground floor
but only left hand window of bay with horns. Right return entrance front (east) 6-pane
sash window in apex of gable, 16-pane sash window lighting stairs set over entrance on
right side of otherwise unlit facade; entrance via Tuscan Doric porch, columns resting
on concrete plinths, glazed returns resting on concrete base, fixed 3 x 4 lights,
entrance with rectangular light and half glazed door with marginal glazing bars and 3 x
4 panes, 3 panels to lower section of door, diagonally boarded with chamfered arrises.
Inner door not seen. Wing to right 2 storeys, one bay, 16-pane sash windows, ground
floor window rising at ground level with step. Interior not seen but original shutters
remain to ground floor windows. The living was in the gift of the Crown.
