SX 25 NE MORVAL LEYLAND

4/54 Memorial Hall and Old School House

GV II

School and school house now memorial village hall and private house. Circa mid C19,
restored and converted in 1965. Stone rubble, partly rebuilt and rendered on left-
hand side of village hall and rendered on right-hand side of house. Steeply pitched
slate roof with gable ends to hall and higher steeply pitched slate roof to house
with rendered brick chimney stacks on gable ends.
Village hall rectangular in plan with entrance to right of centre with 2-room cottage
adjoining to right with entrance in lean-to outshut porch on right-hand gable end.
Single-storey hall with 3 probably C19 cross windows to left in stone surrounds,
gabled stone rubble porch with chamfered 2-centred freestone arch and original double
panelled doors and double C20 glazed door to right in enlarged window opening. House
of 2 storeys with symmetrical 2-window front; ground floor with 2 C19 2-light
casements with moulded frames and stone surrounds, first floor with 2 C19 2-light
triangular headed casements in gabled half-dormers and lean-to porch set back on
right-hand gable end with 4-panelled door and slate hipped roof.
