5/130 The Old Rectory

II

House, former Rectory. 1843. Grey gault brick, now painted and low pitch, hipped
slate roof with symmetrically placed internal stacks. Deep eaves cornices with scroll
brackets. Plan of double pile and adjoining wing for offices. Two storeys with three-
brick band between. Principal front has flat arches to symmetrical range of three
twelve-pane hung sashes. Ionic portico to central doorway in round headed arch with
four-panelled door and radial glazing bars to fanlight. Garden front has two similar
hung sashes on either side of larger stair window, and at ground floor two, tripartite
hung sashes flanking a smaller garden doorway also in round headed arch., Original
doorcase to the parish doorway in the office wing. Inside. Original open-string stair-
case with curtail and scroll tread ends. Screen between incumbent's study and parish room and family part on the garden side.
