1858 by J.H. Foley RA. Heroic bronze figure in military uniform and cloak. The left hand is
missing - lost in battle? On base a broken mortar and part of a gun carriage wheel. Base has
rounded ends and must at one time have been mounted on a plinth.
N.B. This item was previously listed in the Fifth list of Buildings of Special Architectural
or Historic Interest in the District of Sevenoaks, Kent as at 16th January 1975. The statue
was removed from its site in the front of South Park, Grove Road, Penshurst, Kent and
consequently de-listed from the 5th list of buildings in the District of Sevenoaks on the
20th of March 1989.
