Detached cottage. Late C17 or early C18. Roughcast cob on stone footings with
brick end wall to left; thatched roof, gabled-end to left-hand, half hipped to
right. 2-room, single-depth plan cottage, formerly standing at one end of a row
(now demolished). Right-hand room heated by internal rear lateral stack; newel
stair built into thickness of rear wall adjacent to stack. 2 storeys.
Front: irregular 2-window range; 1st floor with two 2-light casement windows, one
late C19, both with lintels at eaves level. Ground floor: blocked central door;
three C20 casement windows. Late C20 leanto extension to right-hand end with
window above.
Interior: one boxed cross ceiling beam; roof space inaccessible. The cottage
occupies an important site opposite The Green, and groups attractively with Nos. 2-
7 Thorne's Cottages (q.v.)
