HACCOMBE-WITH-COMBE COMBEINTEIGNHEAD

SX 90 71

16/84 Nos. 1, 2 and 3 Dodbrook Cottages

GV II

3 adjoining cottages, Nos. 2 and 3 probably originally one house. C17 or earlier,
No. 1 a later addition or rebuilding at the left end. Rendered, probably cob and
stone rubble ; projecting right end stack, internal front lateral stack with short
rendered shaft, axial stack to left of centre (probably formerly an end stack), rear
lateral stack to No. 1.
Plan: Single depth range with 3 C19 or C20front doors, details of plan not clear at
time of survey as interior not inspected but the position of the stacks suggests that
Nos. 2 and 3 may have originated as a 3 room plan C17 house with No. 1 (with a lower
roofline) a later addition or remodelling.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 4 window front with late C19 or C20 small-pane
timber casements. No. 1 has a front door to the right and 1 first floor, 1 ground
floor window ; No. 2 has a front door to right of centre and 2 first floor, one
ground floor casements ; No. 3 has a central front door with a gabled porch canopy,
2 ground floor and one first floor windows.
Interior: Not inspected at time of survey (1987) but may preserve features of
interest which could necessitate revising the suggested dating.
An attractive group on the roadside.
