Farmhouse. Circa 1850, replacing an earlier house. Stone, the front elevation grey
limestone with red sandstone dressings, the rear red sandstone with brick dressings ;
2-span slate roof, gabled at ends with deep eaves ; end stacks with brick shafts.
Plan: Double depth plan, 2 rooms wide with a central entrance into a stair hall ;
principal rooms at the front, service rooms to the rear, the rear left room was the
kitchen, a former bread oven to the left end stack has been removed.
Exterior: Very complete. 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-bay front with a C19 central
panelled front door with a rectangular fanlight with diamond glazing bars and a porch
hood on moulded brackets. 16-pane C19 timber sash windows. The rear elevation has
small pane timber casement windows and a slated open-fronted lean-to with a hipped
roof on iron posts. The ground floor windows have C20 glazing.
Interior: Not inspected but likely to retain C19 joinery and stair.
A well-preserved example of a C19 farmhouse, group value with the outbuildings
forming the rear yard.
