Description

KINGSTEIGNTON
SX 87 NE
4/103 Pair of ash houses immediately to
the North west of Bellamarsh Barton

GV II

Pair of ash-houses flanking the doorway in the garden wall at the rear of Bellamarsh
Barton. Probably C19. Local grey limestone rubble.
2 tall chimney-like structures, rectangular on plan, roofless, and rather decayed at
the top. Mounting blocks adjacent to each ash house allowed domestic ash to be
inserted and stored before being removed from openings at the bottom and used on the
land.
An unusually grand symmetrical design.
