House. Circa C18 or C19 remodelling of a circa late C17 house.
Extended in C20. Dressed stone front, stone rubble at rear.
Slate roof with gable ends and stone modillion eaves. Stone
gable end stacks with modillion cornices.
PLAN: Double depth plan house with 2 principal front rooms,
central entrance-stairhall and smaller rear service rooms. Large
C20 extension on right and C20 single storey outshuts at rear and
at left end.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Original house has symmetrical 3 window
front complete with circa late C18-early C19 2-light mullion
transom windows with casements and small panes in openings with
rusticated stone flat arches with keystones. Central fielded
panel door and large circa late C19 or C20 stone porch with
paired columns. 2-storey, 2-bay C20 extension on right, the
left bay projects and is gabled. At rear smaller 2-light
casements with leaded panes and rendered single storey outshut.
INTERIOR: Right room originally hall with large fireplace with
chamfered timber bresumer. Parlour on left has C19 marble
chimneypiece. Open-well, string staircase with newels and stick
balusters. C18 - C19 joinery including panelled doors. Original
back doorway with chamfered frame and cambered head.
