1848. Architect: J H Lockwood of Hull. The only surviving part of John Carr's
Assembly Rooms, to which it was built as an extension. Modelled on a Roman
Baths. Red brick. Originally one extremely tall storey. Five bays. Unmoulded
Dioctetian windows very high up. Original interior partly destroyed when it
became a cinema in the 1930's, but vaulted ceiling still survives.
