Mile post. Mid C18. Cut stone. Square post with separate inscription to each face below a pointing hand. South-east front inscribed: Roade to / Spofforth / 2 Miles. South-west front inscribed: Roade to / Leeds / 9 Miles. North-west front inscribed: Roade to / Harrogate / 1 Mile. North-east front inscribed: Roade to / Knaresbr / ough / 2 Miles. The south-east front has had an iron hinge spindel inserted suggesting that this stone pier was used as a gatepost at a later date.
