Villa, now flats. c1836-1850 with later additions and
alterations. Pinkish-brown brick with painted stucco front
facade, Welsh slate roof.
2 storeys, 3 first-floor windows. Alternately rusticated
quoins. Plinth. First floor: moulded band; central 1/1 sash
with margin lights, otherwise tripartite windows, the centre a
1/1 sash with margin-lights between narrow 1/1 sashes with
upper- and lower-lights, all in plain reveals. Ground floor: 4
roll-edged steps to central entrance, glazed double doors with
basket-arched overlight and plain reveals, in cavetto-moulded
surround and with tooled architrave. Tripartite windows as
first floor but in double-chamfered, cambered-arched reveals,
the outer cavetto-moulded, and in tooled architraves.
Modillion cornice. Hipped roof. Tall end stacks with cornices.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Kenilworth Road was laid out 1834-8.
Nos 20, 22, 26, 28, 30, 36, 38 and 46 (qqv) form an
architectural group of villas.
