House and attached railings. c1818-1836 with later additions
and alterations including 3rd. storey. Brick with painted
stucco facade and Welsh slate roof.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys with basement, 2 first-floor windows.
First floor: 6/6 sashes in plain reveals and with sills.
Moulded cornice. Second floor: 6-pane casement windows. Ground
floor: 5 steps to entrance to left a part-glazed,
round-panelled door with overlight, in panelled reveals,
architrave and cornice. Ground floor and basement have canted
bay window, to ground floor with 6/1 sash, the upper part with
margin-lights between 2/2 sashes to sides, with pilaster
strips between, frieze, cornice, moulded sills; basement has
central 6/6 sash, also a plank door.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: lancet area railings.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Regent Street, originally called Cross
Street, was laid out as an early part of the new town
development c1808-1814. The first houses in a terrace
development date from 1814.
