Pair of semi-detached villas, now several dwellings and
nursery. c1840 with later additions and alterations including
mid-C20 additions to rear. Brick with painted stucco facades
and Welsh slate roof. Neo-Tudor style.
PLAN: double-depth.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with attics, 5 first-floor windows,
alternate bays project and are gabled, bay to right is more
deeply recessed, and with attached conservatory to left.
4 roll-edged steps to off-centre entrances, glazed door to
left and 6-panel door with Gothic tracery to right with margin
lights with stained glass, within 4-centred, moulded surrounds
with thin colonnettes and hoodmoulds with face stops,
battlements to right, buttresses to angles. Otherwise 2 canted
bays to ground floor and to right a canted bay to full height;
that to left with four 1/1 sashes, otherwise with four 1/2
pointed-arched sashes with margin-lights, all with chamfered
surrounds and sills, and all have frieze of shields. To left 4
bays a frieze with fleurons and continuous lattice-work
balustrade. First floor has 4 alternate 3- and 1-light, then a
4-light window with 1/2 lancet sashes with margin-lights,
hollow-chamfered surrounds, chamfered sills and hollow-moulded
hoods. Attics to gables: smaller 1/2 pointed sashes with
margin-lights, hollow-moulded hoods with floral stops. To
centre and right a moulded band. Low parapet, finials to gable
apex and ends. End stacks. Glazed conservatory with quatrefoil
decoration to frieze.
INTERIOR: noted as retaining original joinery including
shutters to some windows.
