Bridge. Late C19 with C20 restorations. Pinkish-brown brick
arches with ashlar and moulded terracotta parapet and
cast-iron rails and inscription tablet.
3 segmental arches to River Leam have gauged brick heads and
cornices. Frieze, chamfered copings. Parapet in 8 sections:
pedestals have alternate peaked and ornamental caps; to
central, west pedestal an inscription tablet, to east are
Willes family coat of arms (badly eroded at time of review).
End pedestals are taller. Between each pedestal are moulded
terracotta panels with lozenge decoration. Chamfered copings.
Retaining wall to south-west is curved on plan. Quadrant rails
surmounting bridge to north end and have three-prong finials.
Inscription tablet reads: 'THIS TABLET IS PLACED HERE BY THE
INHABITANTS OF LEAMINGTON, TO RECORD THE MUNIFICENCE OF
EDWARD WILLES ESQUIRE, OF NEWBOLD COMYN TO WHOM THE TOWN IS
INDEBTED FOR THE SITE OF THE ADJOINING PUBLIC GARDENS, FOR
THIS BRIDGE AND ROAD, AND MANY OTHER VALUABLE GIFTS.'
