Barn range. Probably late C17 with c1700 addition and later
additions and alterations including outshut to west and
rebuilding of south end. Timber-framing and reddish-brown
brick, on blue lias stone plinth and with plain-tile roof.
PLAN: probably originally L-shaped on plan with the main range
on a north-south axis, with shorter range at north end
projecting to east; this north-south range appears to have
been truncated to south; a timber-framed extension was added
shortly after to the east end and further range with outshuts
added to west and to rear, forming a T-shaped plan.
EXTERIOR: main range at north end and east range have small
square timber-framing. East range: opposing plank doors to
north and south sides, 6-pane windows to south, and pitching
doors to gable end. West end: plank door. Main range: opposing
threshing doors to projecting range at north end where it
abuts the subsidiary range, split plank doors; blocked
breathers. Range to rear under catslide roof; range to west
under half-hipped roof, otherwise gabled roofs.
INTERIOR: main range has collar-and-tie-beam trusses with
queen struts, purlins carried behind the principals and on
level with the collar; wind braces. East range has 2 massive
posts or studs supporting the bressumer and may have
originally been open as a cart-shed.
Manor Farmhouse (qv), Cart shed with Stable and Hayloft (qv),
Stables (qv) and Barn Range form a good group of associated
buildings.
