House. C16/C17 with later alterations. Timber-frame re-fronted
with painted brick; gabled old tile roof with brick rear stack
and front lateral stack. 3-unit plan.
EXTERIOR: single-storey plus attic; 3-window range.
Single-brick first-floor sill course and top dentilled brick
cornice. Entrance to left end in porch with hipped end and
window with 2-light casement and return light to right;
throughway to left of centre with irregular lintel over paired
plank doors in hipped porch; entrance to centre with C20
stable-type door and bay window with C20 small-paned glazing
to right, both under hipped pentice. Window with 2-light
casement to right and similar casements to 3 gabled
half-dormers.
Right end has exposed wall stud with ends of front and return
rails. Rear wings include double-gabled single-storey wing
projecting beyond right return with entrance facing front
INTERIOR: not inspected, but noted as having exposed beams.
No.83 is also known as "The Old Shop".
