Farmhouse. Dated 1605 GAK (for George and Ann Kempson). Partly
rebuilt in C19. Regular coursed blue lias rubble with brick to
right end and rear; steeply pitched renewed tile roofs with
brick end stack and stone ridge stack with diagonally set
brick shafts. L-plan with 2-storey gabled porch.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 3-window range. Gabled wing to left end
and porch wing; plus a single-storey extension to right end.
Left wing has moulded timber bargeboards and entrance up steps
with plank door; porch has entrance to front and part-blocked
Tudor-headed entrance to right return; inner entrance has
ovolo-moulded frame with lower stops and wide-boarded door
with strap hinges; entrance to inner return of wing. Stone
ovolo-mullioned windows, to left wing a partly blocked 4-light
window to ground floor, 3-light window to first floor and top
2-light double-chamfered mullioned window; similar blocked
window to left of centre under deep pentice and with datestone
above; segmental-headed windows to porch and right end have
casements.
Single-storey wing has 2 entrances, one segmental-headed, one
with frame as main entrance, flanking segmental-headed window
with small-paned casement.
Rear has segmental-headed entrance with overlight to left of
centre and similar casement windows.
INTERIOR: some chamfered beams and large fireplace to left end
with timber bressumer, panelled cupboards to right.
