Includes: Nos.22 AND 24 SILVER STREET Tiverton.
Two houses with shops on a corner site, No.2 Park Street and
Nos 22 & 24 Silver Street. c1850s. Mass wall construction,
stuccoed and blocked out; natural slate roofs and brick
chimneystacks with platbands.
PLAN: corner site with rounded corner. Corner entrance to
No.24 Silver Street opens directly on to the shop room which
has sides on both streets. Shop room leads directly to back
room on Silver Street side. Also on Silver Street is front
door with stair to first floor behind. No.2 Park Street has
entrance on left side leading straight into the shop with back
room behind. Side passage to the right with door in left side
of passage leading to stair to first floor.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys high plus basement. 4-bay to Silver
Street; 3-bay to Park Street with a corner bay. Platband at
first-floor level and stone pilasters between windows and
doors at ground-floor level only. Deep eaves.
No.24 shop entrance has 2 leaf door; each leaf has a bottom
panel and a glazed 6-pane top pane and an overlight with
glazing bars; plate glass shop windows on either side of the
door.
No.2 has a pilastered shop front with fascia and glazed shop
door with a low panel and deep overlight to the left and a
2-light plate glass window with mullion. 12-pane hornless sash
windows throughout with blind recessed corner over the door of
No.24 and to the right over the passageway of No.2.
INTERIOR: not inspected but may retain features of interest.
