Large detached villa, now used as health centre. Mid C19.
Stucco with stucco detail; dry slate hipped roof with moulded
eaves cornice; stepped stack with stepped cornice over
entrance bay. Double-depth plan.
3 storeys; symmetrical 5-bay entrance front with centre bays
broken forward and central entrance bay further broken
forward. Original 12-pane hornless sashes with
segmental-arched heads. North entrance front has central Ionic
distyle-in-antis porch, the doorway set back and with
overlight and pair of panelled and glazed doors. Entablature
of porch continues broken back to flanking bays with end
pilasters; blind bays at left and right; 1st-floor moulded
architraves and 2nd floor with sills on brackets. Moulded
cornicing over ornate stucco fascia, glazing-bar sashes and
some C20 replacements to other elevations, except south
facade: this has raised architraves with bracketed cornices to
3 first-floor windows and decorative wrought-iron balcony over
canted bay window.
INTERIOR: not inspected but noted as having fine plaster
cornicing, ornate ribbed ceiling to hall, original door and
shuuter joinery and open well turned baluster staircase.
One of a good group of villas in Mannamead which was developed
after 1851.
