Wall, piers and railings in front of
Bridge End

GV II

Garden wall and railings and entrance piers to Bridge End
(qv). c1864. Brick and ashlar piers and wall, cast-iron
railings.
Brick retaining wall approx 0.7m high runs along east side of
garden in front of Bridge End. At north end are 2 chamfered
brick piers with brick plinth and stepped, hipped ashlar
coping; each side of coping has roll-moulded gablet with
patera. Renewed wrought-iron gate. Similar but double gates at
S end hang from renewed piers capped by reused original
copings. Wall in English garden wall bond has serpentine stone
coping supporting cast-iron railings with geometrical design
of overlapping circles.
