Description

Probably circa 1840. Lodge and gatepiers, former with
sympathetic additions including (?)late 19th century E wing.
Stugged red ashlar, with polished dressings, piers and E
wing.
LODGE: originally T-plan (S facing door in re-entrant angle),
wing recessed on long E wall facing road; open-pedimented
gables with windows in projecting bays (canted at W, towards
main road); sash windows with lying-pane glazing. Corniced
axial stacks (only one ashlar flue - otherwise brick-built).
Slate roofs.
PIERS: 4 tall piers, each with dentilled cornice, inner
octagonal piers, outer square piers; low quadrants with
spiked cast-iron railings (gates removed).
