Description

Earlier 19th century with mid century alterations to front

elevation. Single storey and attic with sunk basement; 5 bays

to (west) front elevation. Painted ashlar. West elevation:

wide inner bay with pedimented Roman Doric portico; door,

sidelights and fanlight behind, with panelled jambs. Single

plate-glass sashes with shallow aprons; base course; cornice;

blocking course; 2 pedimented gables over outer bays with

attic windows added perhaps circa 1896 (when some interior

work was done). Symmetrically placed stacks with grouped

octagonal flues; piended and platform slate roof. 2-bay

flanks. Modern porch at east on platt over basement area;

later enclosed by cast-iron railings. Interior: some ceiling

plasterwork with Classical details, white marble Ionic-

columned chimney piece of earlier 19th century date; (1896

dated carved wooden chimney-piece suggests alterations then); round-arched openings in entrance hall.
