Description

Circa 1860 cottage ornee, single storey and attic,
symmetrical wide 3-bay south facing frontage with projecting
bowed centre bay with entrance and bowed end gables; bull-
faced rubble, contrasting tooled ashlar dressings and band
courses. Slate roof is piended over front bay and curved at
end gables, projecting over deep white painted soffits
supported on cast-iron columns forming continuous verandah:
6 barge-boarded and gabletted dormers with decorative cast-
iron finials; 4-pane glazing; corniced stacks. Rear wing has
been raised and extended at north-west.

Statement of Interest

Eaglestone House appears on 1st edition of OS (1876). The

Eagle Stone, a symbol stone, stands in field south-east of

house.
