Description

Built 1822. T-plan church with 3-stage square towre to centre
of S elevation. Pinned granite rubble, bull-faced and
broached granite quoins, chamfered red sandstone margins. All
openings pointed-arcch with hoodmoulds, windows with timber
Y-tracery.
Gable walls each have pointed-arch hood-moulded doors. N
aisle very wide with windows flanking door, window above. To
NW angle addition of 1890's built to house organ with
circular window to gable.
5-bay S elevation with central 3-stage buttressed tower. Door
to ground, single windows to 2nd stage, louvered openings to
3rd. Embattled parapet with pinnacles at angles.
Saw-toothed skews, gablehead cross finials, slate roofs.
INTERIOR: mainly reconstructed in 1911 following original
layout. Galleries to 3 sides cantilevered from stone corbels.
Raised pulpit to centre of S wall with door behind giving
access to tower. Elaborate hammerbeam roof.
