Description

Probably circa 1759 (date of Mansion House). Walled,
quadrangular garden enclosure. Droved red ashlar-coped
walls, lower, and sunk against bank at south. 2-storey,
square-plan pyramidal-roofed garden house at south east
corner (now in domestic use) and adjoining later single
storey piended cottages both built of squared red rubble
with margins mostly painted: cottage has bipartites and
central door on 3-bay south elevation: slated roofs. Glass
house ranges mostly on north wall.

Statement of Interest

1911 sale catalogue describes the glass houses as "recently

erected by Messrs MacKenzie and Moncur, Edinburgh..."
