Description

Circa 1800, single storey and dormerless attic cottage, 3-bay south facing cottage all white washed rubble. Centre door with flanking windows; end stacks; slate roof. Steading/barn; freestanding in line with cottage to east; probably also dating from circa 1800. 2-storey steading built into side of south facing slope, and with access to 1st floor barn at north from slope. All harl pointed rubble, white washed frontage. 2 entrances in ground floor, one enlarged. Off-rear entry with opposite winnowing door in outer bay (west) of south elevation, now as window; 2 sets long slit vents in centre and outer (east) bays in both north and south elevations.

Interior: cobbled floor to former byre in ground floor; boarded floor to former barn.

Late single storey open fronted implement shed extends from west gable.

Statement of Interest

Off-centre winnowing doors also noted in Coroghon Barn,

Canna. This may be a characteristic of these Lochaber type

steadings on the island.

Buildings sited close to shore of Canna Harbour (a sea loch).

Change House once served as an inn.
