Description

House probably by David Bryce, circa 1867; detached steading
perhaps modified by him also.
HOUSE: Single storey and attic 3-bay farmhouse, low W wing
with T-plan roofline. Stugged ashlar coursers with polished
dressings; wide bipartite windows with wooden mullions;
bracketed eaves. S elevation with advanced gable left, gabled
timber porch in re-entrant angle; wall-head dormer left. Apex
and wallhead stacks; projecting chimney breast in W wing
gable. All roofed with graded slates.
STEADING: large complex built mainly in 19th century; ranges
mainly single storey, ranges at N with loft openings breaking
through eaves and with pedimented dormer heads; rubble-built
with ashlar dressings and crow-stepped gables; slate roofs.
Detached hay barn, deep on plan with 3 roof ridges.
Circular gatepiers ashlar-built.
