Description

Christopher Hodgson of Carlisle, 1842-3. Rectangular-plan
3-bay church with chancel. Gothic; hood-moulded traceried
windows to buttressed bays and chancel, carved mask label
stops; plain gable to street with 2 lancets and apex belfry.
Red ashlar, with string at cill level; porch at west end of N
wall; straight skews; roofed with graded slates; 2 axial
ventilators.
INTERIOR: straightforward open-timbered roof; octagonal
pulpit; timber eagle lectern.
Set behind low ashlar-built wall, tall gatepiers with
cast-iron gates.

10.8.1842; opened 13.8.1843.
