Description

Later 18th century, 2-storey, irregular 3-bay house.

Painted harled walling, door to right. 2 single light windows to left, 2 windows to 1st. All sash and case, those to 1st smaller with plate glass glazing, those to ground with 12-pane glazing. Tall coped stack to right with thackstane, slate roofs.

PEND: wide-arched opening with clustered nook shafts having moulded bases and caps with heraldic achievement of the Vaus family, from them spring the arch. Above, 2 windows of dwelling house (No 55) flank heraldic panel showing the Royal Arms of Scotland.
