History

C19; possibly erected by Sir Joseph Bailey after he purchased the castle in 1844.

Exterior

Coursed rubble wall with plinth. Includes an advanced and taller 4-centred entrance directly in line with the now blocked NW (town) entrance to the castle house; one finial retained and panelled and studded door. Pilaster to left end beyond which the wall steps and curves down around the corner.
