History

Mid C19 formal entrance gates and railings to Blaenwern. not marked on 1840 Tithe Map.

Exterior

Squared tooled sandstone gatepiers with quadrant curved low coped walls and railings each side and similar but smaller end piers. Piers have plinths, flat caps, pyramid blocks above and ball finials. Double iron gates with top rail ramped down to urn-topped meeting stiles, ornate spearheads, scrolled mid-rail with spearheads over and dog-bars below. Curving walls have stone coping and simple low iron rails.
