History

Built in 1898 contemporary with the doubling of the track as far as the Goods Yard and the construction of the footbridge etc. Both the 'up' and 'down' platforms were extended westwards to cater for the growing number of tourists; they were known as excursion platforms and this building had waiting room, toilets etc.

Exterior

Smaller red brick building. 3-bay front with similar blue brick dressings corbelled out entablature. Slate roof, corrugated canopy with valencing to ends. Paired windows and half glazed door to left; shallower windows to right. Window and door on right end.

Converted into office use at time of inspection (February 1989).
