Obelisk. Stone. Dated 1825. In memory of William Alexander Esq. of Woodham
Mortimer Hall erected by the Coopers Company to whom he bequeathed the estate
for the benefit of the poor. Inscribed square base with base stone and top
slab, surmounted by a tall square receeding column with angle and centre moulded
summit. Shield of Arms to centre of column, ornate moulding, round headed arch
and wreath to base. Inscription relates erection of monument by The Coopers
Company who received the estate of William Alexander for the benefit of the
poor. The obelisk enclosed by cast iron railings with nail head finials.
