Row of four former almshouses, built for Joseph Yorke by William
Burges c1865. Coursed squared and dressed limestone, fishscale
purple tile roof, brick stacks. Rectangular plan. 1½ storeys.
Symmetrical, 4-windowed facade with two principal gables projecting
forward slightly far right and far left flanking 2 gabled dormers.
All windows 2 and 3-light stone-mullioned casements with glazing
bars and blind trefoil heads with ogee cusping. Relieving arches
over ground floor windows. C19 plank doors with strap hinges far
right and far left. Pair of matching plank doors at centre. All
doors within pointed surrounds. Single quatrefoil towards apex of
each principal gable with heraldic shield at the centre of each.
Flat gable-end coping and finials in the form of the Yorke family
crest, moulded kneelers. Scalloped ridge tiles, two axial stacks.
Catslide roof at rear.
Interior not inspected. (Forthampton Estate).
