Grotto. Mid C19 by Pulham for T. Gambier-Parry. Pulhamite (form
of artificial stone); render on brickwork. Large, rough heap of
'boulders' rising from by stream, partly overgrown on top. Rough
opening in front, with 'stone' lintel over; irregular flight of
steps up on left to higher ground behind. Irregular gap on right
return to form 'window' for view down stream. Inside semi-
circular room, irregular 'stones' as benches round side, concrete
roof over. Part of garden designed by Pulham, garden one of
largest and best examples of his work surviving. Forms group with
cave, other grotto and walled garden (q.v.).
