Unitarian Chapel. Dated 1722. Red brick (Flemish bond) with black
brick plinth and 2 parallel hipped plain tile roofs. Aligned
north-east/south-west facing north-east. 2 storeys with paired
pilasters at the corners supporting the ends of the moulded eaves
cornices of the side elevations; broken on this front to accommodate
the upper windows which are on a higher level. The arrangement
suggests an open pediment, truncated by the 2 hipped ends of the roof.
Regular 4 window front of narrow outer and wide inner windows; fixed
lights with diamond latticed panes in cast iron mullioned and transomed
frames, beneath segmental arches. 4-bay side elevations with similar
windows and entrance at the north-east end of the north-west front. To
the rear are C19 additions containing the principal entrance.
Interior: The ground floor has been modernised but the chapel retains
its original oak panelled galleries and panelled pulpits flanked by
alcoves designed for the C18 theological students. B.O.E. p. 177
