Parish church. C15, mid C18. Squared greenstone rubble, red
brick, render, ashlar dressings, slate roofs. Western tower,
nave, chancel, south porch, north aisle. The C18 tower of 2
stages, has plinth, plain band and corbelled out embattled
parapet, the upper parts in brick. C18 wrought iron weather vane
on top of tower. Single pointed belfry lights in 4 directions.
C18 west wndow of 3 lights with semi-circular head. The north
aisle is of banded work and render, it has a small oblong light
to the west. The north wall has 2 semi-circular headed lights
with plain surrounds, imposts and key blocks. In the vestry is a
smaller similar window. The chancel east window is C15, partly
recut and of 3 lights. The south wall has a central C15
priest's door in continuously moulded surround with small head to
the top, flanked by single 2 light C15 windows with flat heads
and hood moulds. In the south wall of the nave are 3 semi-
circular headed lights as the north aisle. The nave corners
have rusticated quoins. The gabled south porch has a pointed
outer doorway with dogtooth moulding reused in the arch. 2
corbel heads are reset over the imposts. The inner doorway is
in a continuously moulded pointed surround. Interior. The C15
3 bay north arcade has octagonal piers and capitals and double
chamfered arches. The plain tower arch is semi-circular headed.
The chancel arch has octagonal responds and a double chamfered
arch. In the east wall of the north aisle is a pointed door to
the vestry and a statue niche with ogee head is at the east end
of the nave. A trefoil headed piscina is in the south nave
wall. In the chancel a C19 pointed arch to organ loft, and a
further piscina in the south wall. All fittings are C20 apart
from the C19 octagonal font with pillared base.
