Two headstones to
20.10.69 north of chapel ruin
GV I
Headstones, probably early C12. Part of a cemetery with several sepulchral
monuments in situ, uncovered in 1939. The northern stone, 0.40 metre high,
has an incised equal-armed cross with an expanded centre; the adjacent body
stone is now in Mitford churchyard, on the north side of the chancel of the
parish church. Other stones removed or destroyed by vandals.
