Statue. 1743, by Scheemakers. Limestone. Depicts lion mauling horse, and stands
on ashlar pedestal with moulded cornice. Stands at head of grass slope running
down to River Cherwell, providing views of the 2 eyecatchers in Steeple Aston
C.P. - Chapel of the Mill and Ornamental Arch. Forms a part of the landscape
gardens laid out by William Kent, c.1733-40.
