Belle Tout Lighthouse

II

Built by Stevenson in 1831 of Aberdeen granite. Disused as a lighthouse since the modern one was built below the cliff in 1902. A house was built onto the north side of the lighthouse before the last war and used as an artillery target when the house was reduced to ruins, but the lighthouse to the south is still more or less intact except for the top storey above the platform which actually housed the lantern.
