2/11 Central Methodist Church
G.V. II
Methodist Church. Dated 1894. Rubble brought to courses, freestone dressings,
concrete tile roof. 2 storeys and basement, large gabled main block has 2 tall
3-light windows at ground with shafts and moulded segmental heads, between them is
an attached shaft, above is a similar 4-light window, centre 2 lights are taller,
above that is dated roundel in gable with raised coped verges on kneelers and
finial, quoins run down to plinth below which the basement has plain segmental
1 and 2-light windows: a flight of steps with wrought iron handrail climbs left
at first floor above a 2 arch entry on heavy central column and responds. The
building is evidence of the continuing strength of non-conformity in the parish
and an important part of the good group at the village centre.
