Farmhouse. Late C18; with early C19 alterations; raised and altered further
in mid C19. Red brick in English garden wall bond, raised in pink
variegated brick. Slate roof. Central-stairhall, double-depth plan.
2-storey and attic, 3-window front. 6-panel door beneath Gothick fanlight
in fluted pilaster doorcase: porch with fluted columns. Windows flanking
door and at first floor centre are 12-pane sashes. First-floor flanking
windows are 16-pane sashes, and attic windows are 2-light, 8-pane horizontal
sliding sashes. Painted stone sills to all windows. Lintels all painted,
tooled on ground floor, flat arched on first floor, and timber to attic.
Brick dentilled eaves course. Coped gables and shaped kneelers. End stacks
to both ranges of M-shaped roof. Interior: open-string, open-well staircase
with slender, turned balusters, moulded handrail wreathed at foot, and
hollow-moulded tread ends. 6-panel doors throughout house, most on L
hinges. Fielded-panelled window recesses and shutters. Fine brick vaulted
cellar under left part of the house.
